The Aim MXL2 Motorcycle Dash Logger is the new dash logger that provides all the data needed by professional bike riders and to monitor the perfomance of the motorcycle and their riding style. The product has been designed with the aim to make configuration and usage smooth and easy either for any level of rider.
The MXL2 Motorcycle Dash Logger acquires and displays data coming from your motorcycle ECU, the internal accelerometer and gyro as well as from the GPS module included in the kit. Analog/digital inputs and predefined math channels. Performance and data acquired can also be incremented adding up to eight expansion modules.
Analog Digital Inputs
Aim MXL2 Motorcycle Dash Logger has eight analog inputs, recorded up to 1000 times per second each. You can connect and monitor all kinds of sensors, like:
- Ratiometric potentiometers
- Pressure sensors
- K-type thermocouples
and many others, all your custom sensors included.
MXL2 motorcycle also features six digital inputs:
- Four speed signals – MXL2 can receive the speed signal from the ECU, from the GPS and from the four wheel sensors.
- RPM – MXL2 can receive the RPM signal from the ECU or from a digital input connected to a square wave signal (8 to 50 V) or to a low voltage (from 150 to 400 V) of the coil.
- Lap signal – Lap and split times are sampled by the GPS (included in the kit) or via optical receiver/transmitter.
MXL2 ECU Connections
The Aim MXL2 Motorcycle Dash Logger acquires data from the ECU of your motorcycle. The list of available ECU drivers, constantly updated and upgraded, is published on our support site includes approximately 700 different ECUs, either Stock and Racing. They are sorted by manufacturer/vehicle model: for each ECU you find the proprietary communication protocols, including the standard OBDII ones.
From a hardware point of view, MXL2 manages the following data lines:
MXL2 GPS Module
The GPS05 Module (included in the kit) connected via CAN to the MXL2 makes lap time calculation and track position analysis very easy. Each MXL2 memory stores more than 200 world tracks start/finish line coordinates: as soon as MXL2 is switched on, the GPS05 Module will locate its position, identify track-line coordinates and start immediately sampling lap and split time.
If the track is not included in the database, it is always possible to add the start/finish line coordinates to the MXL2 via PC before going to the track, using the Race Studio 3 – Track Manager software.

MXL2 Second CAN
An innovative MXL2 feature is its CAN2 line, managing data coming from your additional modules (i.e. ABS, traction control, infrared temperature sensors and more…).
This feature meets the requirements of a growing number of racers, as the use of additional modules is becoming quite common in a number of series.
MXL2 Internal Accelerometer and Gyro
The internal three-axial accelerometer and the gyroscope provide the MXL2 a very powerful array of information. These force and motion sensors enable you to quantify the dynamic characteristics of your vehicle.
Measuring acceleration forces and gyro rates can assist in determining how to improve your vehicle performances.
MXL2 Math channels
With MXL2 you immediately get Math Channels values: the dash logger can be configured to display those values (i.e. brake bias, calculated gear) in real time.
The CAN Output on the MXL2 can send messages directly to your existing CAN network in order to improve the range of vehicle control capabilities.
Freely Configurable Pages
You can define up to eight different custom pages, choosing among a wide library of page styles, defining which data to be shown, their end of scale and measure units. Here, examples of pages with 1, 2, 3 or 4 different data and the track map
Sharp Liquid Crystal
The MXL2 display features a high contrast traditional LCD, with a black to white ratio nearly double its predecessor, fused with a graphical LCD offering great flexibility in information display and alerts.
The MXL2 now offers a dual colored backlight of high contrast white and red which can also be changed conditionally. An ambient light sensor keeps the backlight at optimum brightness levels.
Six different alarm LEDs. You choose the conditions, the colors and the flashing frequency. You can also configure them in order to turn them on/off depending on analog or digital inputs, ECU values, expansion values, GPS information or math channels.
You can also associate an alarm LED a message and a digital output with each event.
Two Digital Outputs
MXL2 features two digital outputs. Each of them can give an output of 1 amp at 12 volts: they can be configured in order to be turned on/off depending on the value of the analog or digital inputs. They permit to automatically run external systems, i.e. to switch on/off additional lights, to activate/de-activate a cooling fan or circulation pumps, etc. when a certain event happens.
Integrated Shift Light Array
An integrated shift light is a hallmark of the MXL, but an even better 10 LED shift light array is found in the MXL2. Choose from a host of advanced multicolour RGB shift light patterns that can be customized to your liking, and for each unique gear when required.
for MXL Strada/Pista
Are you an MXL (Strada or Pista) owner?
Connecting the MXL2 to your car is very easy. You do not need to cable your car again: just connect the specific adapter harness to your standard AiM MXL harness and immediately exploit the huge potential of the newest MXL2.
Configure, calibrate, and download your data wirelessly over a secure 802.11 Wi-Fi connection.
All your data at a glance
With the Aim MXL2 you can add expansion modules via our built in CAN bus e.g. GPS, external memory modules, channel expansions, lambda controllers. These are only some of the items that can be added to our MXL range for incrementing the performance and the data acquired.
Expand the system according to your needs
Expand the system according to your needs
Thanks to GPS05 Module (included in the kit) and its GPS Manager software, you can immediately get laptimes and all data needed for engine tuning as well as for improving driving technique
It permits to add 4 0-5Volt analog channels for pressure, temperature sensors and potentiometers. Two of these channels can be configured to receive digital inputs like wheel speed.
It adds 4 K thermocouples.
LCU-One Lambda Controller
Wide band Lambda controller LCU-One, with Bosch LSU 4.9 probe, providing all Air/Fuel data, lambda value and exhaust gas temperature, allows to perfectly tune the carburetion.
SmartyCam HD cameras
The on-board cameras that overlays on videos the data sampled by your logger.
Thanks to the SD Card, Memory Module can record all your data in a file that can be downloaded on your PC for post-analysis. Memory Module, with 16Gb capability, can be connected via CAN-Bus to MXL2 and to all AiM loggers.
Race Studio 3
Race Studio 3 is the heart of your MXL2, managing all your racing activities. The Race Studio 3 can create, modify, delete, import and export configurations with all channels, ECU drivers, Math channels, Display Pages, Digital outputs, Alarms, Shift Lights and all the expansions you need. You will also be able to manage the map of all your racing tracks and compare two laps watching the video recorded by SmartyCam HD cameras.
